Details

Minimalism can be fresh and clean, but it's the fine details that draw me in, make me get closer, provide interest, and make something truly worthy of more then just a glance.

A little rhinestone, crinkled ribbon, paper flowers, buttons, a piece of jewelry, a splash of glitter, and some words of truth are the details that I am loving today.

XOXO, Ele

Birdies in the Treetops Mixed Media Canvas

A $30 canvas, a little paint, a bit of scrapbook paper, quite a few hours of time, and I turned a plain apartment wall into...
a happy place:)

I used the words of a song I used to sing to my babies, "the birdies in the treetops sing their song," as inspiration. My girl picked out the colors she wanted in this mixed media collage, and I love the blue/turquoise sky with the barn red couch.

"The birdies in the treetop sing their song. The angels chant their chorus all day long. The flowers in the garden blend their hue, so why can't I and why can't you sing praises too."

I hope you all have a blessed week.

Sorry the pictures are a little blurry and have bad lighting :(

Silent Night Mixed Media Art

I've been working on Christmas tree mixed media art (collage), and I decided "Silent Night" is what I wish for my friends on the East Coast. Thoughts and prayers for all of you.

I will be at the "Big One" starting Friday, so stop in  for a visit.

Prayerfully,
Ele

Greek Paper Challenge

October's Heavenly Bits Art Challenge features a mixed media collage kit from Pink Dreamer, (Greece). Totally consumed by ephemera: Greek dictionary; encyclopedia; and magazine papers she sent me, I dove right in.

Greek words, not a clue what it says.....a little mystery, and lettering that is quite beautiful.

Seriously, how gorgeous would this be tussie mussie filled with goodies?

A little unexpected is the red lettering, and the pale yellow crepe paper.

A Big "Thank You" to Pink Dreamer for sending us a fun package of art supplies for our October creations.Visit the link below (or her cute artwork) to visit her etsy shop.

The Heavenly Bits (art supplies) also included a few items from me. The items I made are easy peasy, Do It Yourself 101, but still would be cute for a child's birthday party. Just buy a couple of paper punches at the craft store, and you're set!

       cake/cupcake topper, and treat cups

Please visit these beautiful artists, (click on picture). They were part of my Heavenly Bits Art Challenge and received supplies from Pink Dreamer. They will be posting their creations through the weekend.

Altered Art Collage

This piece was inspired by my daughter. The textures and layers, symbolize the depth of her personality. The bold color is her strength that is found deep within. The writing on the arms and legs is the fact that I can read her like a book, and she with me. The quote is a constant reminder when the world doesn't always understand who you are.
Crafters note: I'm lovin me some modge podge lately. I started with a regular white canvas, and proceeded to apply layers of paper, paint, pattern paper and stamps, (but quickly learned to use permanent ink as the modge podge will smear). Of course, I had to add a little bling, and I left my model barefoot because summer is almost here!

We lost a friend a few days ago, to a heart attack. She was 51 and gone in an instant. Leaving a husband and two children, parents, siblings, and other family members. I am not usually very personal on my blog, but it has been a tough week for the family. Hug your loved ones a little longer today, and remember those who are hurting, for even when it may not seem like it, God's blessings will surround you.

Much love,
Ele

Beautiful Bebe Doll

Vintage baby image,  a snippet from a vintage baby card, pink flocked wallpaper (my absolute fav.), and a gold German scrap crown make up this collage. It's really very simple and not fanciful, but babies are always sweet.

I do have to say that I like the ink on the ledger paper, and the wrinkles. It has a dishoveled look against the pristine white and baby pink wallpaper.

I made this a couple of years ago, and had put it in a drawer in my office. Cleaning always brings out treasures.

I made 25 of these sweet babies for a collaborative book effort. Mailed them, and unfortunately forgot to put tracking on them. They were never seen again. At least I still have one!

Check out the cute baby scrubs on http://www.hannahbananababy.com

Have a beautiful week.
Blessings,

Heart Collage

February has arrived, and tis the season for hearts.
My latest collage includes layers of paper. Vintage wallpaper layered with music paper, lace, and pattern pieces.

The sheen on this piece is really pretty and doesn't show up well on the pictures. I also like the way lace turns out when brushed with modge podge. It adds a whole new texture to a piece.

Don't forget to start making your Valentine list. It's only a week away. My family is already buzzing with ideas for gifts, or cards. Remember it's a great time to make someone feel special, and the perfect time to spread a little of God's love.

Blessings,
Ele

She Loves Fashion

She Loves Fashion.
I made this collage for my passionately creative girl.

A little bit of her, and a message from me, "I love you" discretely positioned in the lower right corner.

I miss my pink girl, as she persues her dreams,
far, far away.

Blessings, Ele
