Get Your Nest On

My house has been invaded by guys; carpet layer, floor refinisher, carpenter, and plumber. The plumber was not my choice, but I was forced delighted to add another remodel project to my list, due to a leak. What to do, after getting a couple of rooms back in order? Get out my silver birds and help them get their nest on.

I layered a bird nest on top of seashells. The silver glittered bird is actually a Christmas tree ornament that I embellished with a jewel and seam binding.

More Christmas tree birds getting their nest on. The real silver glitter is starting to tarnish. I know it's in style (even to let your silver tea service tarinsh), but I'm just not sure how I feel about this patina. There's something totally gratifying about polishing silver, and yes I'm serious. How do you feel about this?

Welcome Spring and get your nest on.

I sincelerly hope you are having a nice week, and that you are not experiencing flood waters.
Blessings,
Ele

2010 Neutrals

To define the word neutral, I would start with a color that produces calm, breathing without thinking, and understated elegance. Recapping 2010 with my neutral blog pictures, seriously makes me want to devoid my life of hue.

Wikipedia defines neutral as "a stance of tone without any bias." Very true, as love abounds everywhere with neutral decor and creations. The world dictionary says, "dull, but harmonizes with everything." Really, dull? I will agrue the first part of that definition. The world dictionay has obviously never fully taken in the visual experience of the different shades of whites, creams, beiges, and grays. It is a feast for the eyes.

Ele

Time for Spring

Outside, it is anything but Spring.
Inside, a declaration, or a question of Spring?

Time.
Always, it's a matter of time.
Just a little Spring, added to my shop.

Did you notice my new design? Can you see the church in the background of the header?

Spring Redecor

A little Spring

in my kitchen. A yellow potted plant from my son's girlfriend brings in the sunshine. Finally, I can see out my kitchen window, unlike a couple of weeks ago, here.

I took the plunge and started redecorating the formal dining room. Because of the dark raspberry, painting primer is the first step.

What is the final paint plan, you ask? I wasn't sure when I started painting.
Here's the scoop-
I want the dining room to coordinate with the sitting room below.
I do not "shop" for inspiration in a store.
I happen upon inspiration. I stumble into inspiration at flea markets, auctions, or (my favorite) gifts, (like the silver tea set in the picture above).
I'd like the dining room to coordinate with this picture that I found at an auction a few years ago.
I'd also like to bring in textures and shades of shells I found in the Caribbean.

Along with the shells and silver, I have added the soft blue from the sitting room. I also decided upon a taupe color. Which walls, what color? Fabric? Recovering chairs? Drapes? Any ideas ladies? Those decisions will come later. For now....
back to painting primer.

Blue Birds

Spring is in my mind and flew gracefully onto my paper.
Shades of robins egg blue, coppery brown and white are put together in a simple style. Some of the tags have millinery flowers, some aren't quite yet in bloom. What do you do with these tags? Use tags in place of a card. Tie a tag on a gift. Hang on an Easter tree. Give several as a gift, or just one tied to a little treat.
Don't forget to write a sweet message on the back.
Spring you are a darling. Please come soon.
Spring blessings to you,
Ele

My Favorite Table

Fav Table-

CRAFT TIP: The table (originally stained wood) received a coat of white flat paint. I used gold Pilot paint marker to write (cursive) flower names in Latin and English.

Wait at least 24 hours for the writing to dry and further embellish with Plaid Gold Wax Metallic Finish. I used my finger to wipe the wax on the edges of the table. I also lightly wiped the wax across some of the writing.
I have more Birthday treats to show you, so be sure to come back later in the week.

Blessings,
Ele

For the Birds

I've noticed a little theme going on in my house lately, so I present to you..."for the birds!"

The kitchen table seems to have gone to the birds. Who wouldn't love to live in this mosaic mirrored house?

Look closely at the wire urn and you will see that Mrs. Robbin has laid her blue beauties in a nest.

Peace of Earth....stays up all year at our house.

A Bird's got to eat! A tasty sunflower treat.

I bought this little birdie the other day. She's not the prettiest tweetie, but she really wanted to come home with me. I've promised her a crown and a floral necklace.

My cottage chic friends, I have not forgotten you. Here's a gaggle of geese in a corner bathroom cabinet...

I know some of you have seen this before, the little collage made by Lori, and these sweet eggs. I just had to show them again. It's a sweet thing!

Where I live we can't plant outside until the end of May, so these little seedlings will still have more time to grow inside.

Hope everyone had a happy Sunday!
