happy new year!

Happy New Year!

This is my favorite room in my house. It gives me a calming peace. I have shown you this room before, but it has evolved the past year with more texture, shades of creams, and beiges.  2011 was a whirlwind year, with lots of changes, and Christmas brought home all of our children which in itself fills my heart with love and peace.

Right now, this is my favorite item in the room. These wreaths are a hot item. with people selling them everywhere (online). I made mine. Glued the paper rolls to a foamcore wreath and added a little modge podge to the inside of the cylinders to give it a little visual weight and light gloss, (notice the shine).  The paper angel is an item I received in a swap from http://www.pamelajanes.blogspot.com

The wreath is attached to an old florist basket, filled with vintage ornaments and adorned with silver birds.

Joy, Peace on Earth, and imagine.....the possibilities. What more could a girl wish for at Christmas and for 2012. These birds are real silver, so their aging patina is a nice compliment to the vintage jewels I added to their tail feathers.

I'm excited about 2012, and I hope you are too!

2010 Pinks

I couldn't recap 2010 without a journey back into my pink blogposts. The lack of pink would be like living in a world where pink cotton candy, salt water taffy, and buttercream frosting didn't exist. Oh, how shameful to even think about it.

So my dear blog friends, breathe deeply and absorb the sweetness.

Pink Blessings to you,
Ele

It's in the Jar

Welcome to my happy place.....a place with jars.

It's Spring cleaning time in my church building studio, so I've been dusting, rearranging and trying to destash.  I like storing art supplies in gass jars.

So, what's in the jars?
millinery flowers, vintage jewelry, lace, clay roses, glittery letters, clothes pins, fabric yo yos, fabric roses, old keys, scrabble tiles, sea shells, vintage Christmas ornaments, ribbons, lavender

A lazy susan with vintage creamers and sugars holds decorative pins, miniature parasols, glitter, and other bits and pieces.

Supplies are visible and within reach.
This is a happy place.

Bits & Pieces

Sadie at Lollishops is having a Bits & Pieces Challenge. How could I resist when the theme is Valentines, and I get to use bits and pieces? Part of the fun is finding bits and pieces at thrift stores, flea markets, rummage sales, online auctions and stores, and in your own home.

On a regular painter's canvas, I used a few different paint techniques, as well an eiffel tower stamp.  I really like the shimmery silver.

I was in a girly girl mood and chose vibrant colors of fuschia and pink, with an accent of black.  Perfect for a girl's room.

I incorporated glass glitter, flocked paper, rhinestones, a velvet flower,  silver heart, velvet ribbon, and vintage jewelry into this collage.

It's not A Bit of Heaven without sparkle, and I have to tell you, I have hoarded a lot of  admired vintage jewelry through the years. The flower bouquet pin was part of my collection for about 2 years. After I went through a 12 step program realized how beautiful it would look on this collage,  I was glad to give it up. I added it to this flocked heart. It does look fabulous:)

Je t'adore

Je t'aime, I love you, Je t'adore, I adore you, Tu es ma joie de vivre,  You are the joy of my life, Tu es mon mon amour, You are my love, Mon amour pour toi est éternel, My love for you is eternal, Mon amour pour toi est si grand que le Mond, My love for you is as grand as the world...

When talking about Valentines Day, I just couldn't resist sharing a bit of the French love language  with you.

Valentines with crinkled seam binding, vintage jewels, crepe ruffles, and glass glitter,  just might say, "Je t'aime".

Je t'adore, I adore you.

I adore you for being a follower and for your words of encouragement.

For the sweet part of my swap, I sent my partners sweet scrapbooking items, a sweet pink bird necklace, and chocolate candy, (didn't get any pics of the candy), and a sweet vintage wallpaper notebook.
An area potter made these "bird" bud pottery vases.

Thank you to all of my partners who sent me FABULOUS items. I will be taking pictures of these items and posting them when I have more time.
Vivian made me a beautiful bracelet for hosting this swap. Just look at how she put together these flowers. Awe, thanks Viv!

Valentines, already?

I'm not really trying to push Valentines on you, but as you saw in my last post, I am surrounded by a lot of snow. What does this have to do with Valentines? The snow has reminded me of the glass glitter I used last year when making Valentines (2nd row, 1st pic.). When the sun hits the snow, it glistens just like glass glitter. The snow is really quite beautiful.

1. Valentine Medallion (lrgc), 2. Valentine Key Heart (a), 3. Valentine Girl Tag, 4. Valentine Heart Gold Key (a), 5. Valentine Tussie Mussie Pink Roses, 6. Valentine Glass Glitter Heart, 7. Valentine Tags, 8. Valentine Pink Box, 9. Valentine Heart Gold Key, 10. Valentine Rhinestone Tussie Mussie, 11. Valentine Dress Form Tag, 12. Valentine Key Heart small, 13. Valentine Key Hearts

In many of these creations I have used vintage wallpaper (my favorite kind of paper), and vintage millinery flowers. I have also used various types of keys to go with a "key to my heart" theme. If you haven't used glass glitter before, remember it is REAL glass and will cut, so use it carefully. It is not for little hands.

Happy January,

Ele
