Part 2- Merry Christmas From My Home

A little mischief has been happening at my house lately. I caught "her" in action. Remember Mitten? She's our newest addition that was found in the mall parking lot by "Pink Girl". It's Mitten's first Christmas and she has been enjoying the decorations!

Pink and cream colored decorations adorn this tree. A few "holes" where the branches are separated thanks to Mitten. I like to hang a few pieces of altered art on the tree. A little unexpected as they aren't really Christmas decorations. The "nest" birdhouses are new this year and made by Beth.

Another Christmas stocking made by me. It is made out of recycled (thrift store) wool sweaters. Make sure you use a sweater that is at least 90% wool. Wash it in HOT water and also dry it on HOT. You should end up with a tight piece of wool (felt). Cut it the shape you want and sew together! Notice the second picture below. The top part of the stocking is folded over. Add some embellishments and a ribbon hanger.

The teacup tree is below. Miniature teacups, teapots, sugar spoons, and hydrangea flowers hang on this tree. This tree is actually a half tree and it hangs flat against the the wall.

Next pic is our traditional Christmas tree. This tree is filled with the ornaments we have collected through the years. I also put on red candles as this was my grandmother's tradition. We don't light the candles, but we did when I was a little girl! I found the candle clips at a Stabo store (Scandinavian Imports).

As you may already know, I dislike pictures on my fridge. To solve this problem a few months ago, we added these bulletin boards to our kitchen. Perfect for displaying Christmas cards.

We have been enjoying a beautiful day of sunshine and lots of snow. This is the snow that has piled up outside my kitchen window.

Mr. Pink Heaven is on the roof outside of our bedroom window. He's trying to remove some of the snow that has accumulated on our roof. Yes, I leaned out of the window to take this picture.

Paper Love

Paper-

Just can't get enough for my creations .....I know, I know, the trees are begging me to stop the love affair. Someone will get hurt. Honestly though, I'm doing my part. The paper that I love the most is "green", ephemera. You know, the vintage papers that I'm finding other uses for instead of throwing them away, (I'm shuddering as I realized I ACTUALLY wrote the word THROW.......It's my grandmothers fault, really. She NEVER EVER EVER EVER THREW things away, and to me this means, vintage paper). I swear my grandmothers closet had a secret door/secret room for all the items she put into her closet. She was forever pulling out "things" that she had saved when we needed supplies for art projects, Valentine boxes, etc. That is a whole different story, so let me get back to my "green" paper supplies.

Point in case:

Vintage Ledger Paper-

I love the look. The hand written numbers are from another time, but the

use of these papers, timeless. I have stamped "timeless" on the vintage ledger paper used on this journal. The ledger paper is also mixed with vintage wallpaper, another love.

Vintage Wallpaper-

It comes in any shade and pattern imaginable. I have used vintage wallpaper on the note cards in the box above, on the photo album and keepsake box below. Vintage flocked wallpaper is used on the box above. Go here to see more pics of vintage flocked wallpaper!

Present wrapping has begun at Pink Heaven. I decided to go with simple elegance; plain brown paper stamped with a black fleur design. The best part of this project is that any age can create wrapping paper. Santa's helper and I tied on vintage flocked wallpaper tags and sage green bows.Hope everyone is having a great week!

Arts and Crafts Show/ part two!

A Bit of Heaven, my shop/studio in an antique church building, is only open a few times during the year to the public. Last weekend was one of our open house events. This coming weekend, Dec. 5th and 6th, we will also be open. If you bloggers see anything you might be interested in, drop me an e-mail (righthand sidebar) and I will let you know if it's still available.

My friend, Farmchick, also joins me to sell her wares; wonderful soy candles, hot chocolate and marshmellow mixes, and treat mixes, yum. Last weekend she brought her cowboy soup, double yum! (Sorry shoppers, it was only for us tired, but happy workers!)

Yes, I do have a few pink walls in my church. The narthex area (front entry), as well as the alter area (studio area) are raspberry pink. This is an old hosier cupboard filled with goodies.

Vintage hats for sale-

You know I'm not one to put a lot of personal info on my blog, but I've had such a marvelous week that I just wanted to share. In my last post, I told you my oldest son surprised me and came home. He hadn't been home for Thanksgiving in 3 years. My two boys, pink girl, Mr. Pink Heaven and I, together for Thanksgiving (along with other relatives).

Here are some of the highlights:

*coffee drips on the kitchen floor (this is code for "there are more males in the house, then females"- as it should be in my home- love those coffee drips!)

*the best meal I have had in a long time- I know it tastes better when we're all together, but REALLY the stuffing was FANTASTIC and NOT made by me

*Getting up at 4:30am on Friday to go shopping with my pink girl- her idea!

*Giggling at the lady that pulled the Christmas tree box out from under my hand. At this time of the morning, we seemed to think everything was funny. At the end of 12 hours of shopping, our giggles were cured, and we were just trying to feel our feet, but we'll do it again!

*having to stock the fridge with Dr. Pepper

*listening to the big boys say, "we're taking ANOTHER family picture"

*wonderful hugs and knowing that this time, it will only be 3 weeks until we're all together again....and yes, ANOTHER family picture!
