Summer Roses

Summer roses are not only found in the garden, but around the home. Now, I'm not one to plaster a whole room with roses, but touches here and there can bring about a smile.

What to do with a china tea cup that has lost it's saucer? Turn it into a pin cushion. It's pretty and useful. Cups with dainty feet are certainly my favorite, but any old cup will do. Fill the cup with stuffing, trim with fabric, and add a beautiful velvet rose.

Just look at these beautiful china salt and peppers. These were an etsy "love" purchase.
A soft hanger is trimmed with a pretty velvet roses. A rose garden for the home.
These gifts were sent to a friend. I hope she enjoys!

Crown Swap

Molly at Fleur De Bee graciously hosted a crown swap. I love this theme because to me, it celebrates the wonderful gifts God has given to each of us.

Swapping art work with fellow artists always gives me an excuse to spend time in my studio. It provided some much needed relaxation time.  I wanted to provide my partner with a crown that had bits of color; pink, red, and shades of green. I also wanted the crown to have a vintage/classy feel. The millinery flowers, vintage rhinestones, and German gold embellishments aid in this look.

Molly, our hostess, is a ballerina so I had to add this little ballerina
trim to the side of the crown!

I put together a "crown key" for my partner.

I put together packages that included a plastic ballerina, scrabble letters that spell crown, a vintage bloomer pot holder, a vintage red stone pin, yards of seam binding,  ephemera,  horse tags (my partner lives on a horse ranch), and a little vintage wallpaper.

A pink depression bowl and a pin keep (made by me) also made their way into her package.

When all packages have been delivered to all swappers, I will provide you with a link to view all the amazing crowns. I will soon provide pictures of what I received!

Blessings,
Ele

Vintage Wedding Cake Topper

Why is it that vintage never really seems to get old, and in the month of June (when the tune in my head chimes, here a wedding, there a wedding, everywhere a wedding wedding) I am drawn to vintage wedding items.

Vintage wedding cake toppers are elegant, and in the last few years have become highly collectible.

People have caught this collecting bug as these items tug at your heart strings. Whether you know the original owner or not, cake toppers symbolize a day filled with emotions of grandeur, a day of love.

Vintage wedding dress I purchased at a rummage sale!

Wedding cake toppers seem to be easy to find, and don't take up a lot of room (like my vintage Vogue dress that I display from time to time in my studio). Cake toppers sporting men in uniforms and pieces with bits of color added seem to to be of highest demand. Perfect millinery flowers found on toppers have been known to cause hyperventilation. You ladies know exactly what I'm talking about. By searching out flea markets and various online selling venues, you will find vintage cake toppers. If you're lucky enough to own a topper that used to belong to a relative display it proudly, or better yet,use it an an actual wedding.

Vintage doesn't always get old, it can become elegant, and in the case of wedding cake toppers... your heart just might feel a little tug.

Blessings to you,
Ele

We have 4 winners. In addition to the tote bag, I have added some journals to the giveaway!

The winners are:

Michelle, Butterly Whispers, tote bag
Kathy, Sweer Up North Mornings, journal

Congratulations ladies!

The weather has been gorgeous on the prairie. I have been working in the yard, and spending time in the studio, (cleaning and rearranging). The pheasants are having the time of their life running through my trees, and the Mallard ducks have found many nearby ponds in which to swim. God's beautiful world is glorious.

Have a blessed week!
