Get Your Nest On

My house has been invaded by guys; carpet layer, floor refinisher, carpenter, and plumber. The plumber was not my choice, but I was forced delighted to add another remodel project to my list, due to a leak. What to do, after getting a couple of rooms back in order? Get out my silver birds and help them get their nest on.

I layered a bird nest on top of seashells. The silver glittered bird is actually a Christmas tree ornament that I embellished with a jewel and seam binding.

More Christmas tree birds getting their nest on. The real silver glitter is starting to tarnish. I know it's in style (even to let your silver tea service tarinsh), but I'm just not sure how I feel about this patina. There's something totally gratifying about polishing silver, and yes I'm serious. How do you feel about this?

Welcome Spring and get your nest on.

I sincelerly hope you are having a nice week, and that you are not experiencing flood waters.
Blessings,
Ele

  3. I am ashamed to say that I am Old School. I like my silver polished and shining. We have my hubby's grandparent's silver coffee & tea service and I guess I just always felt that if they entrusted it to my care (before he passed) that it was up to me to take care of it. It is the real thing and maybe that makes the difference, I don't know. I also polish all the other silver pieces we have, chargers and spoons and servers. But, that is just me and I don't care what others do...and I think some of it looks cute when it is staged with shabby abandon. I guess that was lot more than you asked for, huh?;>) xxoo Diana

  4. I love the silver birds and I like that they are looking tarnished. as for silver-ware... I think I would rather it be polished! I should dig mine out and see how it looks. I never ever ever use it. it was my grandmothers, given to her as a wedding gift. I wonder if she ever used it?
have a fun week in your nest!

  6. Love your sweet nests and glittery birds!

Funny that you mention polishing silver. Last week I polished 17 pieces. I just don't like mine looking tarnished, but that's just me! My family thinks I'm weird!!

The Easter sign is so cute..love it and so is your Easter glittery bird basket. I should try some of that glittery too..very pretty.

I'm sorry about flooding and I hope you have everything sorted out and back in place.

If I have the time I don't mind polishing silver either...the end result is always so gratifying isn't it...

    Have a blessed Easter.

  18. Oh, what a great idea, I want to get my glittery silvery Christimas stuff out and decorate with it too! So "out of the box"!!! Just beautiful! And yes, I do love to polish silver, I feel as if I am slowly "unwrapping" a gift. I get so excited to see the shiny silver come through!! I don't mind a bit of tarnish, but when my pieces get too bad I have to polish!
