Cottage Garden-2

This is my second post on vintage items in a cottage garden. I picked this bike up for $5 at a rummage sale. I had to go back to town with a pickup to haul it home, but it was worth it. I put a basket on the front...It reminds me of the Wizard of Oz. "I'll get you (the bike that is) my pretty!

An old garden pump sits in my garden. I dug down a little in the soil, stacked bricks with a little cement between, placed the pump down in the dirt a little, added more dirt and planted pansies.

An old wicker chair lost it's seat, so I positioned a pot inside that is planted with ivy. We have had so much rain that the ivy started to turn yellow:(

"How does your garden grow", antique wooden box. My niece made this beauty. I plan to add geraniums.

In the corner of the garden is an old wooden post. It once was the home to a country mailbox.

I have three garden boxes made of railroad ties. They are planted with lettuce, peas, spinach, radishes, dill, sunflowers, and a few herbs.

The church building in the background is my studio. This is where my items are crafted. LOOK AWAY FROM THE MUCH NEEDED PAINT JOB! An old bench also sits under a window.

Thanks for sharing your garden things. I enjoyed them all. Your pump reminded me of an old pump that sat in my parents' front yard for over 30 years. People always identified their house by the pump. One morning a few years ago when Dad opened the curtains he said something seemed different but he didn't know what it was. About an hour later they went out on the front porch and realized that the pump was GONE! It was set in a block of concrete and the plants around it had been there for years. Someone had carefully dug up the plants around the concrete block, dug out the pump - concrete and all - filled it up with something and precisely put the plants back exactly where they were. Dad had run electric wiring to the pump to install a light on the top but it had never been connected. Whoever took it had checked it out in advance to know all the details and they knew the wiring wasn't connected. We really wished it had and that they had been surprised when they got a big shock. It's never been seen anywhere in the area. No sign of it. Friends gave Mom another old pump but she keeps it in the backyard.

Yes I would settle for the "studio" and the bike.
It looks lovely even without the paint job.

Don't paint the church! It's perfect with the old chippy paint hanging on it. My cottage is also in need of scraping and repainting, but I love that old chippy paint so much I just can't do it. Thanks for sharing your gardens. They are lovely and I'd love to see the inside of the church sometime.

Oh, I envy the bike so much! Its simply lovely! I love how you used the basket for a planter, the lazy way its leaning against the side of the building, everything!

I also love the waterpump. I had one of these, too. I had an old metal washtub that I planted annuals in, and then I had the pump right in the center of the washtub. It looked so sweet!

Thanks for sharing your lovelies with us!
