The Birthday Boy

Fall has arrived! Frost covered the car windows this morning, and it just doesn't seem right. Our summer was really short, especially because of the devestsion in our area. Later this month, I will recap some of the decorating events I have been involved with this past Spring and Summer, so keep in touch, I promise I will deliver.

First of all, I want to share with you my niece's blog. She is the mother to my favorite little boy in the whole world. Click on the link below and you will see how this fabulous mother decorated her son's first birthday party. Keep in mind that their home was lost in the flood, and are living with relatives. They are waiting to move into their Fema trailer. Still, this pretty mama managed to create decor for a wonderful party in the park. She did it totally on her own, well....with her handsome husband (my nephew), and little man by her side. The guest of honor's aunt and uncle made the super cute rocket ship in the last picture. ENJOY!

Birthday Party Part I

Grace, elegance, and pure kindness dwell within my mother. She celebrated her 80th birthday in my home with  75 friends and relatives.

I luuuuv these tissue paper puffs. You can find them at Prost to the Host on etsy. The come flat and folded, and it's a party in itself pulling out the tissue paper pieces and foofing them up!  They are the perfect decor for a birthday celebration.

I hung turquoise and peacock blue puffs in the sunroom above the guestbook table. The peacock blue is my FAV color, but they are all flouncy, foofy and fun.

The puffs in the dining room are white, light blue, and pale turquoise. These babies will stay up for awhile. I can't bear to take them down.

Here's a little sneak peek (above) of the food and favors. You will have to wait for Part Two!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Blessings to all of you,
Ele

My Favorite Table

Fav Table-

CRAFT TIP: The table (originally stained wood) received a coat of white flat paint. I used gold Pilot paint marker to write (cursive) flower names in Latin and English.

Wait at least 24 hours for the writing to dry and further embellish with Plaid Gold Wax Metallic Finish. I used my finger to wipe the wax on the edges of the table. I also lightly wiped the wax across some of the writing.
I have more Birthday treats to show you, so be sure to come back later in the week.

Blessings,
Ele

Sew much fun!

I picked white gladiolas from the garden yesterday. So pristine and gorgeous. I fear they will be the last of the season. I love how they look next to my "Lorena" pumpkin.

Still sewing away! Can you tell I really like making these banners (buntings, pennants)? I was drawn to fabric I spied in the store the other day. Fabrics in browns, blues, greens, and beiges add a Fall feel. The brown fabric with batik blue dots.....fun!

Adding seam binding and a few yoyos just looks right to me.
I couldn't resisit making buntings in pinks, aquas, cupcake and present themes. They are perfect for birthday parties, or baby's room.

I've also been sewing a few fun bags lately. I just couldn't resisit these bright colorful fabrics.

If you want instructions to make a bunting yourself, go HERE.
