2010 Pinks

I couldn't recap 2010 without a journey back into my pink blogposts. The lack of pink would be like living in a world where pink cotton candy, salt water taffy, and buttercream frosting didn't exist. Oh, how shameful to even think about it.

So my dear blog friends, breathe deeply and absorb the sweetness.

Pink Blessings to you,
Ele

Halloween Shadow Box

"Good gracious bat woman, that's quite a frock you're wearing".

I'm back in the craft/art studio and it feels good. My first project: a Halloween shadow box I made for Natalea http://www.kandeland.typepad.com

I was drawn to this image. There's something ghoolishly elegant about it. A bat cape, ears, wings, but yet, a
ball gown bustle, and yards of fabric. I decided to layer the image to give it a 3D look. I cut out two exact images, and added a third layer which included the bat and paper gown ruffles.

Embellishments of millinery, jewels, papers, velvet, and a glass shadow box frame were added to this art assemblage.

Natalea send me an amazing shadow box in return. I will post pictures of what I received next! The swap was organized by Vivian, who is a wonderful host.

Blessings,
Ele

More Sweet Tweet Swap Gifts

From Vintage Patina, I received a vintage raspberry crate filled with bird goodies!

One of my favorite items include a silver ladle altered with a bird's nest, eggs, millinery and ribbon. So perfect for me!

I received this bookmark charm-set that says, "farm girl" and on the other side, "plays in dirt'. Isn't that great? I LOVE it, cause I am a farm girl and occasionally....play in the dirt! Visit Vintage Patina to see all the beautiful items in the basket!

Lucky me!
Blessings, Ele

Blue Birds

Spring is in my mind and flew gracefully onto my paper.
Shades of robins egg blue, coppery brown and white are put together in a simple style. Some of the tags have millinery flowers, some aren't quite yet in bloom. What do you do with these tags? Use tags in place of a card. Tie a tag on a gift. Hang on an Easter tree. Give several as a gift, or just one tied to a little treat.
Don't forget to write a sweet message on the back.
Spring you are a darling. Please come soon.
Spring blessings to you,
Ele

Pretty Jar

Embellished Glass Jar-
Easily decorated with seam binding, millinery flower, and a vintage jewel.

CRAFT TIP: Use three pieces of seam binding. Tie the first piece around the neck of the bottle and finish with a regular bow (the same way you tie your shoes!). Do the same with the second ribbon. Take the third piece of ribbon and tuck it behind the knots of the two bows (top to bottom). Bring the center of the ribbon directly behind the knots. Tie the ribbon ends into a single knot and bow on top of the other ribbons. This will stabilize all the ribbons and give you a base so that you can glue on your embellishments. Use a good glass glue like Omni Stick and glue on vintage jewels, millinery flowers, etc.

I found these glass jars for 80% off. They will be used to store items on my vanity.

Blessings to you,
Ele

Valentines, already?

I'm not really trying to push Valentines on you, but as you saw in my last post, I am surrounded by a lot of snow. What does this have to do with Valentines? The snow has reminded me of the glass glitter I used last year when making Valentines (2nd row, 1st pic.). When the sun hits the snow, it glistens just like glass glitter. The snow is really quite beautiful.

1. Valentine Medallion (lrgc), 2. Valentine Key Heart (a), 3. Valentine Girl Tag, 4. Valentine Heart Gold Key (a), 5. Valentine Tussie Mussie Pink Roses, 6. Valentine Glass Glitter Heart, 7. Valentine Tags, 8. Valentine Pink Box, 9. Valentine Heart Gold Key, 10. Valentine Rhinestone Tussie Mussie, 11. Valentine Dress Form Tag, 12. Valentine Key Heart small, 13. Valentine Key Hearts

In many of these creations I have used vintage wallpaper (my favorite kind of paper), and vintage millinery flowers. I have also used various types of keys to go with a "key to my heart" theme. If you haven't used glass glitter before, remember it is REAL glass and will cut, so use it carefully. It is not for little hands.

Happy January,

Ele

Valentine Hearts

i participated in Dolly's My Vintage Heart Swap. My partner is Kathy from Country Chintz. We were to send a containter filled with "heart" items. This is what I sent her.

I embellished the heart box with German scrap trims and millinery flowers. The "key to my heart" was also made by me and is embellished with a vintage key and vintage wallpaper.
